The type of fish I want to get requires a minimum of 200 gallons and I simply just don't have that kind of money. So any ideas on what I can keep these fish in? I've already thought about a nice size hard plastic kiddie pool but I need something for indoors.
I mean I have the money for decor and lighting and everything else but just not for the fish tank.
Yeah I know it would cost a lot to maintain it but not nearly as much as the aquarium would cost. I know eventually the cost will add up but I have plenty of money to spend on it every week.

basically i made the mistake of putting my betta with a green spotted puffer in a 10 gallon dumb i know i didn't know much about fish then i do now he's been healing in a 1 gallon vase and i've been monitoring him but i wanna get him a tank again and my puffer died but the 10 gallon is over stocked with mollys swordtails and a pleco so and i want him to have his very own tank this is the one i'm thinking if i can find it really looking for the 5 gallon but i'd settle for the 2.5 whats everyone think of these tanks for the betta alone in his very own tank link to the tank
i wanted to get him a female betta as well but this is depending on how agressive he is gonna be when he goes into the 5 gallon and probably wouldn't be for about 3 to 4 weeks so he could calm down and learn his surroundings

I know some people say that the jig trailer should match the jig head color (example: for white jig heads use white trailers, for orange jig head use orange or red trailers, etc.). But is the color combination of the jig head and trailer really that important for successful fishing?

ps, since i'm just starting out, i am only cutting out meat that comes from cows, pigs and chicken. i will still eat fish for a while, and i will continue to eat animal biproducts, such as cheese, eggs, etc...

im not sure how big it is (maybe about 20 gallon) the only fish we have in there ATM are 4 gourami and 3 fancy guppies.
if we cant move it would the pet store take them? if not what else could we do with the fish?

All they do is sit at the bottom of the tank and they swim with there mouths open. Because they're babies, I am scared if they'll die!
Please answer the following questions: -
- How much food should I feed them? (It's different because they're babies)
- I need help in the temperature of the water.
- How do I clean the tank out?
- How can I tell if the fishes are ill?
- How do I bring more oxygen so they can breathe?
- I can't think of any more questions but please HELP!
BTW I don't have a light or a heater and I just bought the tank yesturday so I don't know if the water is right. I didn't check, I just bought the baby goldfishes today.

i am thinking about trying to live on my own sailboat with as little committments as possible and as much freedom as possible. i am wondering if making custom fishing rods would be a good way to earn money to pay for my expenses? up here i generally used to get about 100 to 150 per pole. another question would be if sailing do you need to dock at night? or can you just drop anchor somewhere out of the way? is trading a commonly used way of obtaining supplies? this isnt something i plan on just jumping into or anything but im trying to do the research

Pytanie #25:
About two weeks ago, I bought a 40-gallon aquarium that came with a working hang-on-the-back filter, heater, ornaments and gravel. The gravel is pretty coarse: about 1/2"-diameter polished rocks.
I set up a decent fish tank for a while, with many fake plants and cute ornaments, and let it sit for a week. Then I bought six guppies: two males, four females. The day after that, two females died.
I was worried about my future guppy tank, but after doing some intensive research, I decided that I should have made a Cichlid tank to take advantage of how much my aquarium can hold.
I read that guppies were good for starting the cycle for a Cichlid tank, though, so I was happy I had still made that decision, even if it was for another reason.
I changed the decorations in my tank with the guppies still in it, so now I have a good Cichlid tank layout, with many rocks, that are stacked or formed into little caves or crevices. I have one fake plant behind the rocks in each corner.
However, I really want to make this Cichlid tank as perfect as possible, so I have a decent amount of issues:
-My current tank is 40-gallon, the temperature is 79-80 degrees, and the pH is 7.6
1. I am aware that the pH needs to be raised to 8.0-8.2, but I don't know the best way to do that safely without harming my guppies or anything. Also, the guppies can't really handle a pH that high, so when would be a good time to do it?
2. The guppies have been in for 2 days now. How long should I wait until the tank is fully cycled?
3. I fear that my gravel is much too coarse for Cichlids, who like to dig around alot. I want to buy a new substrate, preferably sand, but I really don't want to take out all the gravel on the bottom and then pour sand into the water to have it float around and cloud the water with fish in it. Would it be possible to put sand on the gravel? I don't have eggcrate on the bottom, but I feel like the coarse gravel supports the rocks well and protects the acrylic from them.
4. To raise my pH naturally, should I buy Aragonite sand, reef sand, etc.? What would be something that I could most likely put on my gravel and would raise the pH to about 8.0-8.2? I also have some dried coral, but I don't know if it will manage to raise the pH enough and then buffer it. If pH-raising sand is the better idea, please post a link or something on the Petco or Petsmart website (so that I can easily go buy it at the store. Also, note that I don't buy my fish at Petco, I go to a LFS).
5. What would I do with my guppies when my Cichlid environment is completely ready? Are they likely to get eaten, or could they co-exist with the first pair I put in? (They almost always hang at the top of the tank)
6. Is my filtration sufficient? I would like to spend as little as possible, but if better or additional filtration is necessary, please let me know.
I'm sorry for the long and horrifyingly specific questions, but I've had a lot of problems with fish tanks, and this is my first one with bigger fish, so I'm not ready to cut any corners anymore. Any help with any of these questions is truly and deeply appreciated- Thank you in advance!
If more filtration is necessary, I probably would need something inside the tank, since 2 hang-on-the-back filters seems excessive.
Forgot to specify- I'm going to get African Cichlids: most likely lake Malawi ones.
Kenyi fish are what I'm aiming for as a start, followed by anything that can eventually accompany it and give color diversity in the tank. I haven't managed to find a compatibility chart, list or anything that can tell me compatible species of lake Malawi fish that will live in harmony.
My understanding is that most Mbuna fish are able to live together, if the ratio of females to males is at least 4 to 1, and if the males are of different species and color than each other.
If I'm wrong, then I'll ask a question about Mbune compatibility.
Mbuna* my mistake

I'm having trouble getting over a guy that I madeout with about FIVE months ago, but had been "talking" to for about 4. It was never anything serious, but I still had the strongest feelings for him. After we hooked up a few times, I told him he was my first kiss and for some reason that weirded him out and he said he just wanted to be friends. But the thing is, we don't even talk at all. I tell myself I am over him, but deep down... I still like him A LOT. Any advice at all for this?? My friends say 'there's more fish in the sea' or 'he wasnt the right one' but they just don't understand.

Thanks! :)

I am going the route: Salt + heat + medicine
Since ick perfers to breed in temps below 80 (like during my water changes) would a water change that lowers my temp be a prime time to medicate? And how long (should) it take to eradicate all those micro b@$tards!

I just bought a 10 gallon fish tank with a filer and hood. I used tap water and added water conditioner. After it was set up I got my water checked at a local pet store. They said everything was okay but the pH levels were a little high. They recommended pH decrease but I wasn't sure if I should get it. The worker wasn't specific about how much it actually was. Should I care about the pH levels?
There are no fish in the tank yet.

I am 14. I have a devilish 9 yr old sister. I reallllllllllly wanna get a cat. And my mom said that she would buy it and stuff if I took care of it. I would have to care for the cat completely and it would be mine. But I can't just keep a cat in my room. It would have to be able to roam around the house. And if MY cat roamed freely around the house, I just know my sister will pet it, and love it, and play with it JUST TO BOTHER ME. She knows that this will drive me bonkers. Especially since she gets free entertainment and joy from bugging me about how she gets to touch MY cat that she doesn't help out at all with the care stuff and I can't do anything about it.
Should I really get a cat? Is it worth it?
Or should I just be happy with my 2 fish????

Well, I am going to have Danio's for sure but the rest of the fish I want, my friend say's they aren't good starter fish. I also wanted guppies, rainbow fish, platy's and molly's. I don't see how they are bad starter fish.... Its not like I am going to breed them right away..... So, give me your opinion. I looked at a chart to see if the fish I want are okay with each other and they are!!!
Click Here Anyway could you give me your opinion on the types of fish I have chosen and maybe other fish that I could choose instead... Thanks a lot!!! Oh yeah, my tank may be 20-50 gal. I am unsure yet. But I may get more then one! Thanks again.....
Okay, you guys convinced me! I will get some Tetras!! I looked at the chart and they go good too! I will get them instead of Molly's. I will get a bunch of different types of Tetras cause they sound cool! Thanks!! I hope more people answer so I can hear more opinions!
